What is One Meow?
One Meow is an iPhone journal where you write one line a day. As you keep writing, you collect cats drawn by hand by the artist Jane Kott.
Is One Meow only for iPhone?
Yes. One Meow is an iPhone app for iOS 26 and later. There's no iPad, Android, Mac or web version.
How long can a line be?
Up to 200 characters, about one or two sentences. It's meant to take a minute.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing bad. A missed day is fine; tomorrow is a new line. Your streak restarts, and one cat, Miss you, is waiting for you when you come back after a few days away.
Who drew the cats?
Every cat was drawn in ink, by hand, by Jane Kott. The app's outlines, dividers and icons are drawn in the same hand.
Are the cats made with AI?
No. Every cat is Jane's own drawing. One Meow never uses AI-drawn cats.
How do I collect cats?
By writing. Your first line brings the first cat; others come with streaks, prompts, moods, tags, late-night lines and looking back. Each cat says how to find it.
Will there be more cats?
Yes. There are 15 cats now, all common. Rare, legendary and mythical cats are coming, drawn by Jane, in free updates.
Where are my lines stored?
Only on your iPhone. One Meow has no server, and your lines are never sent anywhere unless you export a backup yourself.
Does One Meow sync with iCloud?
No, the lines stay on this iPhone. To keep a copy or move to a new iPhone, export a backup to Files or iCloud Drive and import it on the new phone.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no account and no sign-in.
Does One Meow track me or show ads?
No. There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics and no crash reporting in the app.
How do I move my journal to a new iPhone?
On the old iPhone, open Settings, Your data, and tap Export my entries to save the file to Files or iCloud Drive. On the new iPhone, install One Meow, open Settings, Your data, Backup and restore, and tap Import a backup.
Can I lock One Meow with Face ID?
Yes. Turn on the lock in Settings, Privacy, Security, and the app opens only after Face ID or your passcode.
Are there widgets?
Yes: small, medium, large and Lock Screen widgets, and a Write today control. With the lock on, widgets show only your streak.
How much does One Meow cost?
One Meow is free to download, with every feature and every update included. There's one optional purchase, Honorable Kotik, for people who want to support the artist. It doesn't unlock any features.
What is Honorable Kotik?
Honorable Kotik is an optional one-time purchase to support Jane, who drew every cat, and the app's future. As a thank-you you get a heart in Settings, three more app icons and a special cat when it's ready.
Does Honorable Kotik unlock features?
No. Every feature is for everyone. Honorable Kotik is a thank-you, not a paywall.
Is Honorable Kotik a subscription?
No. It's one purchase, once, and it's shared with your family through Family Sharing.
